Leaking Like a SieveToday it was a gorgeous fall day in DC, the trees are peaking, and by late afternoon, the sun was out in the clear blue sky, so I thought I'd take a bike ride. There's a bike path not far from my house that will take you past Georgetown along the Potomac. It's quiet, and the best thing about it is that you don't have to breathe the emissions on the city streets, or dodge the oversized SUV's. It's about as close to nature as I get, and today I even saw a wild deer running down the bike path.Maybe it needed some exercise. A little stress relief. I came back home and started dinner, baked Italian chicken and homemade (by my own little hands) pasta with Pomodoro sauce. I turned on CNN and heard some news about a new investigation into a new leak of classified information that Bill Frist and that fat Senator from Illinois, Dennis Hastert. The new leak of classified information has to do with the article in last weeks Washington Post about the secret detention centers in eastern Europe where the CIA conducts whatever secret things that they do to people they suspect to be terrorists. I don't know why it seems like a big deal to the Republicans that the news of secret detention centers should make it to a major newspaper when bloggers have been speculating about it for like two years, but I guess leaking classified information is against the law. Hence the investigation. But before the signed documents could leave Capital Hill, Trent Lott told CNN that what was printed in the Post last week came almost word for word from a lunch meeting on the Hill last week with Republican only senators, and guess who? Dick Cheney. Does Cheney just love to gossip about classified things? Do the Republicans have no judgment when it comes to national security? Didn't Cheney have to go to that training session about classified information? Should the entire Republican Party lose security clearances? Maybe more training sessions are needed. | +Save/Share | | |
