Looking on the Bright SideIt sure has been a lousy week for liberals. On Monday when the Democrats handed over the last remaining branch of government to the Jesus people, I wondered what happened to all the talk of a filibuster. I did sort of see some of the Democrats the next day at the State of The Union speech, they were the ones not standing and applauding, I wonder if it's because they have no spine? At the same speech, a mother who had lost her son in a war for our country got arrested, while the ones who had sent him to his death shook hands with the President. In foreign affairs, we are still at war. We still have to face the problem an emerging war with Iran, and the threat of retaliation if the West refers Iran to the UN security council. But while the threats were exchanged between the US and Iran, we managed find common ground with the crazy guys by hating gay people just as much as they do. Americans believe in freedom and human rights for everyone, unless you happen to be gay. Of course we Americans don't execute our gays (not yet) because then who would design our evening wear? The crazy guys in Iran actually have a huge bargaining chip, since they are sitting on the biggest gas station on the planet. But our crazy guys actually have the nukes already. But I always try to be optimistic. I'm sure that something good will come out of all of this darkness, and wait....I'm thinking.....uhmm..... Still thinking....... Okay! How about this? Our crazy guys will be institutionalized because they think there is a danger of creating Freakazoids from human and animal cloning. Nah....that's kind of a long shot, Bush already thinks that he speaks to GOD, and the guys in the lab coats haven't come for him yet. Isn't there any good news this week? People still dying in Darfur, soldiers still dying in Iraq, the President wants $70 billion more for a war we are losing, protect the unborn, cut off medicine for the already born, polar caps melting, the earth is warming.... oh! that's it! The earth is warming! I've found the silver lining in the rain cloud! My heating bill, even with the doubling of fuel costs, is actually lower than it was last year, because it's been in the 70's every day this month! And if you thought that last year was the warmest on record, wait til the end of this year! And you know what? It's February 2nd, and my daffodils are coming up. Ah....spring in February. Life is good. | +Save/Share | | |
