God's War President

We are still in Afghanistan -- ever wonder why? Does it trouble you that the Taliban is resurgent there? That warlords and opium production are bigger than the central government in Kabul? That Hamid Karzai can't leave the capital without the kind of security Bush would need in Gaza? I know Iraq is the big enchilada, but what about the screw-up in Afghanistan?

After all, we didn't get bin Laden. How long do you think we will have to keep Troops in Afghanistan?

Iraq is of course a quagmire, and the showcase of American incompetence and belligerence. As we borrow from China in order to destroy Iran's only rival in the region - as we drain the lifeblood of our armed forces - as we alienate all of our allies and Muslims around the globe -- one wonders when it will all end, and how.

Last night, the War President said it won't end on his watch - some future War President will have to find a way to end it.

Meanwhile, his administration of boobs, hacks, chickenhawks, and true believers are beating the drums for war with Iran.

And those that support the War President? Those Evangelical Christians and Oilmen and Corporate Executives of the Republican Party? They're okay with all of it. They got their tax refunds, bought their SUV's, planted a "Support the Troops" sticker on it, and are not worried about anything.

It is all in God's hands, you know (and His appointed representative on Earth, the War President).

The war continues, and spreads, and consumes all, even our own sense of Americans as a peace-loving and law-abiding people. Were it not for our faith in a loving and all-powerful God, and His backing for George W Bush and his righteous agenda, we might have to do something about it.
