Recycling old-fashioned segregationist white racism, GOP-styleSteve Gilliard outdoes himself today in using the "Box Turtle Ben" fiasco to describe the use of white racist propaganda. In a long post, he takes a few seemingly immortal pieces of racist claims and analyzes how they were used, in particular by the Red State Racists blog. And he does a fine job in this example of showing how nasty racist and extremist ideas of various kinds are "mainstreamed" into today's Republican Party. Referring to the problems that Red State Racists now face with their friends at WalMart and the Republican National Committee, he writes: They can't trust you to buy a fish sandwich given the antics of your crew. You'd probably come back with burnt wings or a hot dog. This week, Red State went from an annoyance to a liability. Because your guys are spoiled little conservatives with no sense that the country or the world is larger than you. | +Save/Share | | |
