The way urban legends get started

The wife of an Army soldier serving in Iraq puts up a "Support Our Troops" sign in her yead.

Then she gets static about it: It's A War Of Words by Julie Pace Tampa Tribune 03/09/06.

Those fiendish antiwar liberals trying to dishonor the troops?

Well, no. It's her anal-retentive homeowners association:

But officials of Westchase, in northwest Hillsborough County, view the sign differently. They say the 2-foot-high sign violates community rules. Stacey Kelley, 24, received a letter from the homeowners association last month stating she could be fined $100 a day if she does not remove the sign.

And the guy leaning on her on the association's behalf is an Iraq War veteran, association President Daryl Manning.

One day, rightwingers will be recalling, "I remember reading in the paper about a woman who put a 'Support Our Troops' sign in her yard and got all kinds of crap for it from a bunch of antiwar liberals".
