Protest in Brother Jeb's office over lynching case

About 30 college students protested Wednesday in the foyer of Gov. Jeb Bush's office, calling for the arrest of guards who struck and kicked a 14-year-old at a juvenile detention boot camp earlier this year. The boy, Martin Lee Anderson, died the next day.

The students also demanded that Bush apologize to Anderson's family for how the investigation of the death has been handled, alleging a cover-up.

The students also want the medical examiner who handled the first autopsy of Anderson's body to be removed. They said they would remain at Bush's office until the governor addressed their concerns.

All of which sound like personally reasonable demands to me.

I'm not exaggerating when I call this a lynch-murder. This kid was brutally kicked, beaten and choked to death by law-enforcement officials on his first day in boot camp over charges of swiping his grandmother's SUV for a joy-ride. The thuggish guards probably intended to "only" torture him, not kill him. But it was lynch-murder just the same.
