Protest in Brother Jeb's office over lynching caseFrom Students in governor's office protest boot camp death St. Petersburg Times/AP 04/19/06:About 30 college students protested Wednesday in the foyer of Gov. Jeb Bush's office, calling for the arrest of guards who struck and kicked a 14-year-old at a juvenile detention boot camp earlier this year. The boy, Martin Lee Anderson, died the next day.All of which sound like personally reasonable demands to me. I'm not exaggerating when I call this a lynch-murder. This kid was brutally kicked, beaten and choked to death by law-enforcement officials on his first day in boot camp over charges of swiping his grandmother's SUV for a joy-ride. The thuggish guards probably intended to "only" torture him, not kill him. But it was lynch-murder just the same. | +Save/Share | | |
