On That Bipartisanship Thing

The seismic Blue Wave continues, as MSNBC highlights the change of Senate and Committee leaderships on the Hill.

Cliff Shecter reminded me of Bush advisor Grover Norquist, who once said "bipartisanship is like date rape".

Bipartisanship is desirable only if Republicans show good faith, something they showed zero inclination for during their twelve years in power. None of that I-meet-you-10%-of-the-way-you-meet-me-90% nonsense either, like what Bush pulled on his own party with the deplorable 2006 Military Commission Act.

Bush doesn't call the shots anymore. If he doesn't want his last two years in office to be lamer than it already is, he should swallow his bullying ways and get used to it.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
