Empty WordsI was home from work Tuesday watching C-span, and noted the intense debate about the language going into the non-binding resolution that disaproves of the President's troop surge in Iraq. Now I don't know why a debate about some words in the Congressional record that will not make one iota of a difference in the President's escalation of the war in Iraq is so important that it takes a week to decide, but then, I'm just the person who makes your dinner, so what the hell do I know? The war machine will continue on its destructive path until Congress decides to withhold the tax dollars that feed it. The way I see it, a non-binding resolution is just a bunch of pussy law-makers trying to cover their ass for history, (or perhaps re-election) so that they can wash their hands of the blame when the shit hits the fan.Sorry about the foul language, but unlike our law-makers, I don't have weeks to decide what words to use in an obscure post on the Internet that won't make even a tiny bit of difference in the decisions that send our soldiers to die in a hostile desert. I had this delusion that bloggers actually had played an important part in America's vote against the war, but the folks that we elected have chosen to use empty words to fight the illegal war. We Americans gave Congress a wrecking ball to kill the war machine, and our representatives have chosen empty words as their weapon. What a bunch of spineless souls we have elected. What the hell ever happened to America, the home of the brave? Where is the Senator that will stand up and declare that the war in Iraq is over, a waste of billions of dollars, and of precious lives? Why didn't we elect the one person who had the strength of character to sponsor the bill that would kill the war machine and bring our young people home where they belong? The Administration controls the armed forces, nuclear weapons, tanks, aircraft carriers, and the legislators are fighting them with a mamby-pamby non-binding resolution. If we cut off the funding, we stop the war. Simple really, much easier than spending a week agonizing over some stupid words that will not save a single soldier's life. Americans want an end to this war. Congress needs to get their steelies on and do the job that we gave them. Tags: Iraq, Non Binding Resolution
