An Outlet for Our Collective Fury?

I'm Pissed-Off, Tankwoman is Outraged, we could all probably use up the entire list of Roget's Thesaurus synonyms to discuss our feelings as this administration's coils of venality and downright evils continue to unspool before us . Digby says"We are now officially in Nixon territory..." but I think this territory is beyond anything the Nixon White House even dreamed of. In order to keep from having daily TIA's or worse, I am focusing on the upcoming March on the Pentagon, to be held on March 17, the fourth anniversary of the beginning of this war...you know, the war we were told would be all over in such a short time...months, or no...maybe even just weeks. And here we are, four years later, watching as it escalates, as death and destruction not just of our troops, but of countless Iraqi civilians also escalates, as terror spores waft across the Middle East and the entire world, as the USA now joins Israel, Iran and North Korea as the countries rated as having the most negative influence on the world in a recent BBC World Service poll of 28,000 people in 27 countries who were asked to rate a dozen countries plus the EU in terms of whether they have a positive or negative influence. (I don't know about you, but I find this news beyond upsetting.)

Yep, I'm going to pack up my fury and travel to D.C. to participate in this March, along with, I hope, thousands of other angry people. And I ask everyone reading these words to consider joining us, and making a statement too large to be ignored. It's time for the Peace Movement to be more visible than the War Movement, time for all of us who rant and blog and throw sharp objects at the Sunday morning talk shows on TV, to join together to make manifest the real feelings of the majority of this country. I'm fortunate enough to have an airlines guest pass to get me the ridiculous distance from Albuquerque to Washington DC (although amazingly enough, even from out here, buses are going), but if you don't have that luxury, check out the transportation page on the website. Transportation to DC is being arranged from almost every state in the USA. There are also four joint actions planned in four Western cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Reno and Seattle. Info on the transportation page about these actions.

So, what about it....On the day honoring the Saint who drove the snakes out of Ireland, let's see if we can be instrumental in driving the snakes out of the Pentagon, the White House, the State Department, Congress. Send them slithering down K Street into the Potomac, where, with any luck, they may be eaten by the Killer Snakeheads.

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
