An Historic PlanThere are those mornings, like most of them, actually, for the past four years, when my first glimpse of the day's news makes me want to immediately get back into bed and pull the covers up over my eyes, ears, nose and throat...for a loooooong time. Such was the case this morning, as I took in the scope of Operation Arrowhead Ripper, north of Baghdad. What a great name, huh? No doubt about this one, baby, we mean bidniss here..Well,instead of crawling back into a coccoon, I had my coffee, fed the beasts, watered the plants, and, scumbling around for happier news, I came across this heartening headline: Addressing Climate Crisis, Bush Calls For Development Of National Air Conditioner. Reading the article made me forget all about the way The Current Resident (as Garrison Keillor calls him) has been ignoring scientific evidence, living in a bubble of denial and ignorance, making no effort to work with the rest of the known planet to do something about this greatest of planetary threats. I can even forgive him for the way my anxiety levels have risen, not to mention my blood pressure - because I see we Dubya-doubters have been wrong all along. He does have a plan, in fact he has a "real solution," that those fussy Europeans haven't been able to come anywhere near. WASHINGTON, DC—In a nationally televised address reminiscent of President Kennedy's historic 1961 speech pledging to put a man on the moon, President Bush responded to the global warming crisis Monday by calling for the construction of a giant national air conditioner by the year 2015.Okay, yes, this is an article from The Onion, but it is no further from the reality base of this insane administration than most of the actual news, the words that do, in fact, issue from the mouths of those running this beknighted country. Take a moment for some sardonic fun, and read all about The National Air Conditioner. Technorati Tags: global warming, national air conditioner, the onion | +Save/Share | | |
