The Death Toll RisesYou can learn a lot about our society by how little attention is paid to the thousands of Iraqis we have killed. The most scientific study published by the Lancet estimated that over 600,000 Iraqis had been killed as of July 2006. Just Foreign Policy has attempted to provide us with an accurate--if not entirely scientific--estimate of the on-going Iraqi death toll. Their estimate is nearing a million dead Iraqis. Click the link to learn more. So if we have killed nearly a million now, over a million during the sanctions regime, and a few hundred thousand during the first Gulf War, what is it going to take for you to join the anti-war movement? How many more need to be killed before you take to the streets? How many more need to die before you think it's important enough? I don't want you to feel guilty. I want you to care enough to get out there with us and help end this damn war. Bicker over the numbers anyway you want, but one dead Iraqi; one dead American; one dead human in Iraq is unacceptable. We shouldn't be there. We have no rights there. Won't you help us end this madness? | +Save/Share | | |
