Pete Seeger, "Waste Deep in the Big Muddy"

This is a Pete Seeger song, "Waste Deep in the Big Muddy", apparently from an appearance on the Smothers Brothers Show circa 1967.

The story the song tells stands on its own. But it was also reasonably understood as a criticism of the Vietnam War. And it's acquired new relevance in recent years.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
