If I Weren't so Tired....I'd Be Pissed

Was anyone really surprised when the news of the NIE broke last week? Was anybody shocked to learn that Iran doesn't really have nuclear capabilities? Are there still people in America who don't know that you can't believe a thing that comes out of the White House? Okay, I know that there are like 5 people who still believe everything George Bush says, because they comment here at the blog. And they probably still believe that Iran is a threat, but I think that has more to do with religious prejudice, than common sense. Believing that Iran was a threat to America was ludicrous, it's like thinking that some ayatollah was going to ride his donkey over here with a nuke in the back of a wooden cart, and somehow cause serious harm to this country.

What really makes me angry is not the five people who drank the Bush kool-aide, but the news media who spread the dis-information. Why is Wolf Blitzer not freaking out that his show was used to spread false information that might have resulted in military action? Why are all the White House reporters not screaming that they have been made to look stupid in front of the whole nation? Who will believe anything Wolf Blitzer says, who will believe anything the news media reports anymore? Who can Americans trust to tell the truth?

Right now, it looks like Sy Hersh is the only news person in the country who does his job, and is telling the truth.

If Americans weren't so busy working, raising children and trying to stay afloat in an economy that has been ravaged by needless military spending, if we weren't so tired from overtime, we might actually have the energy to become really angry. It's lucky for the liars, and the spreaders of lies, that we are exhausted, too tired to be angry, too over-worked to get upset at the lies upon lies that have been piled on this country by the leaders, and their media mouthpieces.

I've got to get up really early for work in the morning, so this is all the outrage I can muster. But I pray for God, or someone like him, to give us truth.

No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
