Short Stuff![]() Next, back to the indispensible League of Conservation Voters - and the word that it's not yet too late to cast your vote for the next member of the 2008 Dirty Dozen. The infamous Dirty Dozen program targets anti-environment candidates in campaigns where we have a serious chance to affect the outcome. Since the LCV started the Dirty Dozen in 1996, it has defeated 43 out of 67 Members named to the Dirty Dozen, or 64%. -- including many "undefeatable." incumbents. Go here to vote for one of the four candidates presented, each with a short explication of why they belong in the Dozen: Sen. Ted Stevens, R/AK, Rep Don Young, R/AK (isn't it strange how a state full of so much natural beauty, wildlife, public land, could vote in such atrocious members of Congress?), Sen. Mary Landrieu, D/LA, and Sen. Mitch McConnell, R/KY. Only hard thing about it is choosing which of the four is the dirtiest. But I had to go with Stevens. Okay then, off on a beautiful day of blue skies and wild winds, snow shining on the mountains, alas, to shut myself up to teach in a classroom with one small window.
