What Justice?Maybe you remember the Roberto Gonzales scandal of last summer, or maybe like me, you prefer to forget, since nothing is likely to come of any perjury charges that might be aimed at Mr. Torture. Anyway to refresh your memory, and my own, there was a huge uproar over the firing of some US Attorneys that was seen to be inappropriate and politically motivated. Karl Rove was involved, Harriet Miers and Josh Bolten were asked to testify before Congress, and ordered not to by the White House. So a couple of weeks ago, the House voted to issue Contempt citations to both Miers and Bolten. The citations were issued, and today, AG Michael Mukasey refused to act on them. He defended the use of Executive Privilege by the White House, and so now the House must file a lawsuit to enforce the subpoenas. That's really way too much legal speak for me to deal with, but essentially, Congress must sue the Department of Justice to actually get on with the process of finding the truth. Once the truth is discovered, then we can proceed with justice. Why do we even have a Department of Justice, if justice is obstructed for Presidents who break the law, or Attorney Generals like Gonzales who lie to Congress? I think we ought to have a Department of Bull---t, cause there sure ain't no justice happening here. | +Save/Share | | |
