Ho HumI suppose it's necessary considering what brought down his predecessor, but it's truly a sad state of affairs when an elected official feels the need to preempt controversy by publicly discussing matters that should concern no one but himself and his wife.So David Patterson had an affair, and his wife did, too! When they were separated! Yawn. As Josh Marshall said, Patterson is no Eliot Spitzer. There are attempts to start a buzz as to whether he used campaign and/or public funds for those trysts, but this should settle the issue: Asked if he had used government or campaign funds to pay for any rendezvous with his former girlfriend, Paterson said he had not.Perhaps now the drooling press can move on and let the man take care of more pressing matters of state? As Too Sense said, Give me a break. You can violate the constitution, lie to get us into war and perform your duties with sociopathic negligence, but the only thing that earns you the contempt of the press is who and how you f***.More from Talk Left, Gothamist, New York Magazine, Memeorandum.
