Iran ObsessionI guess I thought when our own intelligence agencies came to the conclusion that Iran had suspended any military plans that included nuclear weapons, that the worry of any sort of war with Iran could be crossed of my long list of things to worry about. But President Bush today, on his way to beg the Saudis for more oil, is again talking nonsense. He calls Iran the single biggest threat to Middle East Peace. Did he forget that our own country has completely destroyed the security and the economy of Iraq, and turned Afghanistan into a huge unstable narco state?Maybe he forgot, there was a big wedding to think about. And Joe Lieberman this morning, (I can't believe I actually voted for him in 2000) told Pat Buchanan that air strikes on Iran were a "distinct possibility". He thinks that Iran is supplying weapons and training to Iraqis who are killing American soldiers. But I'm pretty sure we have been supplying the Iraqis with plenty of weapons, and so far, there is no proof that any of these weapons have come from Iran. In fact, the weapons that the US claimed were made in Iran, were not after all, and the Pentagon has admitted it. I don't think there's any danger, our intelligence agencies don't think that there's any danger, so why all this talk of grave threats? Of course, Iran doesn't help the situation, they still have that crazy guy in charge saying all sorts of stupid things, like just last week, when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said this insane thing: "Those who think they can revive the stinking corpse of the usurping and fake Israeli regime by throwing a birthday party are seriously mistaken,” Ahmadinejad said, warning that “this regime is on its way to annihilation.”Okay, now if you live in Iran, and you're trying to convince the world of your peaceful intentions, maybe you might want to tell this guy to shut up. Or get a new guy who doesn't say those kinds of things that get our war hawks talking about grave threats and air strikes. My list of things to worry about is long, and it's getting longer with each passing day of the Bush Administration. I'd really like to cross Iran off that list.
