DNC '08: Barack Obama's NominationThose salivating for a rumble on the convention floor got sorely disappointed tonight. The state of Illinois yielded to the State of New York, and Hillary Clinton, side by side with the other Democratic leaders of her state, moved to suspend the rules and nominate Obama by acclamation. I think it was totally magnanimous of Hillary, who earlier also released her delegates, to do the honors. Many were in tears. The first female candidate for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States officially nominating the first African American for President of the United States. It was, without question, an historic, bittersweet moment.
