Take the Olive Branch and Whack Them!!You know, I was having a pretty good summer. I stayed away from the screaming idiots on cable TV, I spent a lot of time on exercise and sports. I was content thinking that there was a Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate, and that we had smart people in the White House. I was convinced that the officials we elected last November would take seriously the mandate of the people who elected them, and get some bills passed.
Like Heath care Reform.
I made the mistake of paying attention to the noise that has become a substitute for discussion of an issue that impacts every person in this country. I don't know how it happened, but apparently 50% of my fellow citizens actually believe that there will be a bunch of guys sitting around a conference table deciding that Grandma has cost us quite enough, and tomorrow we will be pulling the plug. How is this possible? Most people should already know from dealing with insurance companies, that the guys who decide if you get the MRI to detect the tumor, are the guys sitting around the conference rooms at Cigna, or United Health Care. Those guys are the death panels.
The thing I see happening here is the John Kerry Syndrome. This argument is getting swift-boated from here to Hawaii, and the Democrats are just letting it happen. The same thing happened when Hillary Clinton attempted to reform health care in the 90's. It took her years to come back from that defeat, and to be honest, Democrats today don't have that kind of time. This crap about bi-partisanship will lead to the defeat of very important legislation, that the people of this nation voted to change.
I say take the olive branch extended to the Republicans, and shove it...well...you can fill in that sentence however you see fit.
