Cold TurkeyIt's the weekend, it's hot as the very devil, I've blogged my little heart out all week, and my brain wants to take a vacation. So I've decided to turn the page over to someone whom I've always thought might just possibly be God, masquerading this time around as Kurt Vonnegut. I've been thinking about this piece, which he wrote for In These Times in May of 2004, lately - so I looked it up and reread it. It's as wonderful and true now as it was the first several times I read it. Every word of it resonates in my brain, my heart.Happy weekend, get those lawns mowed, tomatoes picked, kayaks in the water, butts on the bikes - whatever makes you happy. But somewhere along the way, read or reread Cold Turkey, it's a small crazy rambling masterpiece, from a master of our time. | +Save/Share | | |
