From The Armpit of Liberal HellOkay, I admit it. It's probably a deep and troubled personality kink, yes, I know; but I am a devoted fan of Mark Morford's column "Notes & Errata" in the San Francisco Chronicle. He is my idol - my deepest longing is to be able to write in the completely bonkers, over-the-top, no-holds-barred, not-giving-a-damn way he can let loose in that column. Only in San Francisco, the place my favorite RWC (Right-Wing Conservative) commenter calls "the armpit of Liberal Hell," though in fact I think it's probably RWC Hell, and Liberal Heaven.
Anyway, Mark's current column vents his spleen at a question we LWLs get asked much too often: "Here it is: Where is your supposed progressive openness? Your liberal generosity of spirit? I thought you Lefties were all mushy and passive and live-and-let-live?... In other words, where is that famous so-called tolerance I thought all you libs were supposed to possess like some sort of gentle polyamorous smiling hug for the world?" This question is, of course, posed when we are confronted with some completely intolerable attitude or position, and forced to debate it. As Mark begins to tell us here in his answer, our tolerance has its definite limits:
So, go ahead, do yourself a favor: grab an espresso machiatto, get comfy, and read it all: Liberals Are So Intolerant!
