The Plame Case: A PrimerOne of the Blue Voices, Fdtate, used to update us on the Plame leak case. Since he's currently MIA because of computer problems, I'm going to pick up the slack.I'm not a fan of Factcheck.org's above-the-fray, they said-the other said approach to "fact-checking" which, on several occasions, turns out not to be very factual nor accurate. Take for example, the title for its summary article on the Plame leak case: The Wilson-Plame-Novak-Rove Blame Game. Factcheck's cool kids attempt the fair and balanced schtick by calling it "a partisan blame game complete with distortions and misstatements by both sides". Riight. As if the two sides have equal merit or credibility. Really, the media should quit obsessing about being fair and balanced. It's an overrated and ludicrous concept. But I digress. If you can grit your teeth through the summary -- or better yet, just skip it -- the rest of the article is a good primer for those who are fuzzy on what the case is all about. The timeline is based on public information available up to July 18th, when W. said "if someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration". After July 18th is where I'll come in, in future posts. | +Save/Share | | |
