Reaping the Whirlwind

Our own Tankwoman posted on this a few days ago, Reconstruction: The Real Looting in NO, but it's impossible to have our attention called too often, or even often enough, to the amazing intrigue that is Crony Politics in this administration. In this column Tom Englehardt and Nick Drum trace all the lines from the largely given -up-on recon effort in Iraq to the just-started recon in NOLA. Amazing how those lines cross and recross, tangle and twine. Read it and freak. There are days when I just have no idea what to do with my fury. It may be time to install a heavy bag. Corporations of the Whirlwind: The Reconstruction of New Oraq, By Tom Engelhardt and Nick Turse.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
