Where are the Democrats? Why is Russ Feingold almost alone in calling for an end to the war? Does anyone still believe that "staying the course" is an acceptable or defensible approach anymore? Isn't it obvious that "more of the same" is an immoral and counter-productive strategy? It is clear now that Bush is as lost in Baghdad as he is in New Orleans, and Katrina is nothing compared to the destruction and needless loss of life Bush generated in Iraq. Most Americans have concluded that the war is a huge mistake, and was not worth the cost. It has finally dawned on many Americans that the man in the White House is incompetent. How much further will we let him carry on? Why are the Democrats so afraid to stand up in opposition to the war? No wonder Americans have rejected the Democrats -- their lack of courage is appalling. The lame duck in the White House is playing out the clock. The Democrats are being cautious. The resulting leadership vacuum amounts to a recklessly negligent "do nothing" approach that can only produce "more of the same". I am tired of hearing people say that the war was a mistake, but we can't pull out. It seems clear to me that the only thing we cannot do is sign on for an indefinite continuation of "more of the same". It is time for a change. A very big change. Feingold's war stance may be battle plan for 2008 | +Save/Share | | |
