It's hard to keep up as the weeks rush by - hard to realize that there's already another edition of the Carnival of the Green online. This one is hosted by Urban Eco ("eco-friendly products for city dwellers"). I haven't had time to read all the entries yet, but so far my favorite is Camden Lady's "Why Own a Car?" She lists her own reasons for not owning one, and "I like drinking" is one of them. They are all good reasons, and if I lived in London (or any other big city with mass transport) as she does, I wouldn't own one either. Parking in the city alone is enough to discourage auto ownership. But, I live in the sticks, a place where I can't even get to an airport on mass transit. It's time to make mass transit a priority everywhere, perhaps even particularly in areas like this one. Life would be so much better in so many ways for all of us.
