From Cartoon Controversy Turns Deadly in Afghanistan; Violence Rebuked Christian Post 02/07/06

"There are two sad ironies in the response of Muslims to this indignation," said the Washington based human rights group, International Christian Concern (ICC), in a statement released on Monday. "One is the fact that their reaction is an illustration of exactly what the cartoons are depicting. It is as if the protestors are saying 'How dare you portray us as violent? We will kill you for that.'"

ICC expressed concerns that as Muslim outrage grows against the publication of the cartoons, Christians will increasingly be targeted because of their association with the Western world.
The ICC's statement sounds a lot like Serbs in the mid-1990s talking about Croatian outrages, or Croats talking about Serb outrages, or white Mississippians in the 1960s talking about blacks, or ... but you get the drift.

"The second irony is that while Muslims are crying 'persecution' in regards to a depiction of Mohammad in a cartoon, this pales in comparison to the crimes committed against Christians, Jews, and Hindus in Muslim-majority countries because of their faith," ICC stated. "The persecution of people of minority faiths is routine in Muslim societies. In some cases, it is even justified by law, and can often be deadly. ICC has documented case after case of Christian suffering, maiming, torture and murders of Christians who were killed because they are infidels or apostates (one who has turned away from Islam)."
From their Web site - www.persecution.org - it's pretty easy to see the drift of the ICC's work, which obviously focuses heavily on publicizing stories of Christians being persecuted in Muslim countries. Their Human Rights and Country Profiles page offers information about Muslim countries, Communist countries and India, which has a large Muslim minority. Among the Middle Eastern countries listed are Iraq, Syria and Islam. (?!) Would that be the Islamic Republic of Islam? Or the People's Republic of Islam?

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
