The Jebucation Legacy

It's worth paying attention to what Brother Jeb is up to. The Bush dynasty is a long-term problem for American democracy. From Padding Bush's legacy: The Jeb Bush Education Legacy Act would force unvetted, underfinanced, sweeping reforms on high schools St. Petersburg Times editorial 03/22/03:

The idea of requiring 14-year-olds to choose an education major for their high school years may be aimed at bringing a sense of direction for students who are drifting or drop out for lack of interest. But the plan leaves high schools with less than a year to remake their curriculum, no real new money to do it and no acknowledgement that many teenagers have no idea what areas of study they will focus on when they enter college, let alone high school.

Under the bill, high schools would be required to design majors and minors for every student that would occupy at least one daily class period. They also would be required to create career academies to serve those who can graduate with employable technical skills. And they would be required to add more math and intensive science.

Here's the kicker: A House analysis claims all of this can be done essentially for free. ...

Overhauling the high school curriculum requires a broader public discussion, and the only urgency here is the one to pad Bush's legacy.
Scamming their way along: the Bush dynasty way.

Defend the bad against the worse."
