Bush "Acts" on Gas Prices

Oh, look! The President has come up with a drastic policy move to help ease gasoline prices:

WASHINGTON (April 25) - President Bush on Tuesday ordered a temporary halt to deposits to the nation's strategic petroleum reserve to make more oil available for consumer needs and relieve pressure on pump prices.

Once again, Mr. Bush finds a way to make doing nothing look like doing something.

And, as always, he managed to throw a bone to his pals in the industry…

Bush also announced steps to ease environmental standards governing fuel grades.

…Easing the environment rules will allow refiners greater flexibility in providing oil supplies since they will not have to use certain additives such as ethanol to meet clean air standards.
