How un-American is it to wave the Mexican flag?

David Neiwert came up with this little gem from the Los Angeles Times about a Bush campaign ad in 2004:

As Bush speaks in the video, the background music — a Latin beat — grows louder. The president is pictured waving the Mexican flag, hugging a Latino woman, and then holding a Latino baby. (my emphasis)
Billmon also wonders if all foreign flags are equally forbidden to wave.

And are foreign flags worse than a flag that symbolized treason against the United States?

Defend the bad against the worse."
