The Atrocity of Modern Warfare

Is the deliberate murder of unarmed civilians an atrocity? Let's say a few soldiers get a little trigger happy, and kill 15 non combatants, they kill them for clearly suspect reasons, and then they try to cover it up. Soldiers are trained to kill, they were sent by our country to kill people, I don't really think you can blame the soldiers for doing what they are trained to do.

I don't really understand why it's okay for the United States to drop shells made of depleted uranium, or use white phosphorus to burn the flesh of humans who happen to be in the battle zone. I don't understand why such a big deal is being made of this shooting of civilians, when the Air Force has done much worse. How can it be legal to drop tons of ordinance on crowded cities, and be illegal to shoot a couple of civilians?

I agree with Lisa, all war is an atrocity, all war is an abomination, and the advocates of war should now take responsibility for the actions that have caused the deaths of countless civilians. If Marines must do jail time for doing what we have trained them to do, then the Air Force Generals should also stand trial for choosing to use illegal chemicals and weapons of mass destruction.

The civilians who have supported this war are guilty of war crimes, not the soldiers who have followed those orders. Let's try every American who supported the war instead of the soldiers who executed it. We had a choice, they did not.

No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
