Blogging PrivacyA blog on a prominent right wing online magazine outed the real identity of Daily Kos's Armando and he will no longer be blogging as a result. This really makes me mad. It was a cheap, disgusting and dishonorable stunt. It reminded me of the time when a member of TBV was outed by the member of another blog, his full name, address and phone number posted openly without his consent just because they don't see eye to eye. Another writer on that blog finally took it down, but no matter; the cat's out of the bag. People's real identity is sacrosanct in the blogging world. We all have our reasons for wanting anonymity, not the least of which is the blogger's safety and privacy concerns for himself and the people around him. No one has the right to out anyone if they want to remain incognito, ideological differences notwithstanding. There is simply no excuse. | +Save/Share | | |
