Going to war ain't pretty - in more ways than oneI wouldn't have expressed things in exactly the way Stephen Zunes does in this article: How Washington Goaded Israel Into War Antiwar.com 08/26/06. But I think he has some highly relevant observations about the current drive of the Cheney-Bush administration toward war with Iran. One of his more disturbing observations is that one of the main war arguments the administration and its supporters are putting forward is that war against Iran is necessary to protect Israel. And that while Israel is certainly no simple puppet of the US or the Cheney-Bush administration, he also observes what he calls "Washington's cynical use of Israel" in essentially trying to set up Israel to take the main blame in the Muslim world for American policies, possibly including a war on Iran. This also doesn't sound good at all to me: Israel air force chief to plan war on Iran by Harry de Quetteville Daily Telegraph 08/27/06. De Quetteville reports: Israel has appointed a top general to oversee a war against Iran, prompting speculation that it is preparing for possible military action against Teheran's nuclear programme. | +Save/Share | | |
