Crunch TimeIn the next two months, we will be inundated with campaign promises, and have to listen to some more unsavory campaigning from the less than ethical candidates that are running on both sides of the aisle. Summer is over, kids are back in school, and people are beginning to pay attention to the mid term elections. I should feel happy that this may be the year the Democrats finally take back one of the branches of power. I don't.Yeah it will be great if the Dems can take back either the House, or the Senate, or both. But will they vote to end the war in Iraq? That's unlikely, and even if they do, what will happen to the Middle East if we exit? My feeling is that the Administration will do what they want in regards to the war, and we will be there indefinitely unless we are utterly defeated, and have to pull a Saigon exit, evacuating all of the Americans we can, before our bases are over-run. While I hope I am utterly wrong, and that there is some chance that Iraq may have some sort of stability, There is nothing to indicate that anything stable is happening in Iraq any time soon. So I vote Democrat, and hope for the best. I don't think that the Democrats will end the war, but hopefully they will be able to stop the next one from happening. And maybe that's the best we can hope for today. | +Save/Share | | |
