More on MoyersIf the video preview of tomorrow night's documentary Is God Green? in my previous post didn't hook you, here's a link to a video interview from Truthout.com. This is Marc Ash interviewing Bill Moyers on the subject of the struggle over environmentalism within the evangelical Christian movement. Moyers is himself an ordained Baptist minister; I believe his heart and soul are deeply involved in this issue. And, by the way, those folks, as well as all the rest of us, better hurry up and quit any equivocating over the issue of global climate change. As Deborah Williams, former executive director of the Alaska Conservation Foundation, warned last year: "Alaska is the tip of the melting iceberg, or the canary in the coal mine with an impending heat stroke." This article from AFP today, shows just how true that is: Warming, melting Arctic forces native Alaskan village to move. The Inupiaq people have lived on the island in this article for 4000 years. A century of CO2 emissions have brought them to this today: SHISHMAREF, United States (AFP) - The Inupiaq of Shishmaref have lived in this island village for generations, but with the waters rising all around and ever fierce storms blasting the settlement, they are being forced to move far away from the seas they have always depended upon. | +Save/Share | | |
