He Did It AgainAfter the embargoed Bob Woodward interview where we learn Gerald Ford was against the Iraq invasion, we now learn he had other embargoed interviews that go as far back as 25 years:In 25 years of interviews with his hometown paper that could only be released upon his death, former President Ford once called Jimmy Carter a "disaster" who ranked alongside Warren Harding, and said Ronald Reagan received far too much credit for ending the Cold War.The guy just died, but asking for interviews to be embargoed until they no longer matter is a very weasly thing to do. Seems like Ford wanted to preserve the facade of presidential deference to other presidents, past and present -- something I never understood, by the way -- while still alive, yet wanted to have the last say in death without the danger of being challenged on them.
