The McCain Doctrine

From the very beginning, McCain has been flippin' and flappin' every which way about Iraq like a fish out of water. His own words betray him, no matter the outright disinformation he spreads about Moveon.org.

Now that Bush essentially agreed with him to send more troops, he's squirming out of it.

Well, too late. Iraq isn't just Bush's war, it's his war now, too.

And if you ever entertained the idea that John McCain is a maverick, please disabuse yourself of such misconceptions.

The good news: New Hampshire, Iowa and Nevada, seems to have done just that. McCain's ratings are tanking in all three states. In New Hampshire alone, his rating among independents plunged from 49% a year ago to 29% now.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
