Bush Stalling Global Solution to Climate Change

I don't know about you, but it almost seems as if I can feel the planet getting warmer. It's only June, but my air conditioners are going full blast. I'm riding my bike every day back and forth to work, to do my bit to curb greenhouse gasses, and it seems as if nothing is changing. The sweat rolls down my neck as I pedal my way through the city, while the rest of the city drives comfortably in cool SUV's. At work, I sweat, at home, I sweat. In my tiny part of the planet, I do my bit to save the future, I have drunk the Kool-Aid, and I know the consequences of not acting. I'm totally on board. But while I work to protect the Earth from certain disaster, ice melts faster than I can pedal, glaciers drift into the sea, and our fresh water supply disappears.

"From the high mountains to the vast polar ice sheets, the world is losing its ice faster than anyone thought possible. Even scientists who had monitored Chacaltaya since 1991 thought it would hold out for a few more years. It's no surprise that glaciers are melting as emissions from cars and industry warm the climate. But lately, the ice loss has outstripped the upward creep of global temperatures."

And as world leaders gather in Germany for the G-8 Summit, attempting to come up with a solution that might impact the Great Meltdown, George Bush comes up with an idea all on his own.

"By the end of next year, America and other nations will set a long-term global goal for reducing greenhouse gases. To help develop this goal, the United States would convene a series of meetings of nations that produced most greenhouse gas emissions, including nations with rapidly growing economies like India and China," Mr Bush said."

Do you trust this oil guy from Texas to come up with a solution to this serious global issue?

I don't.

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
