There Is Great Joy in Mudville.Having been away for a week, sequestered in a friend's condo in South Bethany, DE, without a TV or a computer, I have enjoyed a very welcome news fast. Amazing what beachwalking, birding, visiting with friends, eating massive quantities of seafood, drinking lots of wine, will do for a frazzled psyche. No NYT, no WaPo, no blogging, no reading blogs. And, during this week, my team went to the Series. Meaning that, once home, I had to spend my TV time watching some damn good baseball. And my happy world of fantasy can continue a little longer, because the Sox won their second Series in this decade. Wow. This is a brand new BoSox, baby, these guys can PLAY the game. I only wish we'd been in Boston to enjoy the victory with the rest of the rowdy Red Sox fans!! Rampaging in the streets, as those Boston fans love to do. So, after I savor this feeling for a little while longer, it's back to the salt mines, catching up with the news, reading this and other blogs, resigning myself to reality. (Waiting to see where A-Rod winds up.) Entirely possible the Sox will be an even better team for the next World Series?
