LOOWGies

I dislike loud, old, obnoxious, white guys. I dislike them at airports, where they always try to get my aisle seat by complaining to the stewardess that they can barely move their legs. I dislike them at work, when they sidle up to the CEO, (most often another old, obnoxious, white guy, but not as loud) and blow their own horns incessantly, until the CEO has to take a call on his cell phone. I dislike them at football games, tipsy and profane, and sitting in way better seats than I can afford.

But most of all, I hate loud, old, obnoxious, white guys on news shows.

I haven't been paying much attention to the news coverage on the primaries, mostly because it seems as if candidates have been running for office for like the last ten years, and I guess I didn't realize that the voting had actually started, and that wow...this is it. The end of the Bush and Cheney Dark Years. Someone else will occupy the White House, it's not just a dream, but a certainty, as long as there is not some loophole in the Constitution, that says if the country is in crisis, the elections can be suspended until a time when there is no crisis.

When a Bush is President, isn't there always a crisis?

So....getting back to loud, old, obnoxious, white guys....(should we hereinafter just refer to them as LOOWGies?), I was really surprised to hear Chris Matthews and Lou Dobbs last night, just laying in to Hillary Clinton. I avoid these shows, because I'm old-fashioned, I think it's rude to invite someone to speak on your show, ask them a question, and then interrupt them before they finish the answer. I know that manners have sort of vanished from our culture, and it's not anymore about who makes the best argument, but who gives the best insult, but hey, I even liked Mike Huckabee a few months ago, because he was so polite. Since I am having a much more rational moment right now, I realize that if Mike Huckabee were elected, he would politely send his Christian Soldiers to escort me by force to the nearest Baptist Church, and marry me off to a big man with hair on his back, I swear his manner of speaking is so lovely, he could almost make the trip seem enjoyable.

I wish that the news media would go back to reporting the news, instead of trying to make the news. I wish the LOOWGies would stop trying to act as if they are history makers, and just give us the facts, so that we can make our own history. I would like Lou Dobbs and Chris Mathews and Bill O'Reilly to eat a big slice of Shut-The-F-UP, and let the voters decide this election. I would be happy to have Obama, or Clinton, or Edwards, or any Democrat that the people of America decide to elect.

America, it is time to hock these LOOWGies.

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
