Kiss thisApparently, an American soldier in Iraq used a Koran for target practice, and succeeded in putting a few rounds through the holy book. Now the military has scrambled in response to the incident. The soldier has been removed from Iraq, his letter of apology was read to some Iraqis by a US General who also apologized, and another officer kissed another Koran and presented the book to the Iraqis.Yeah - he kissed the book. Can you believe it? As far as I can tell, he didn't get down on his knees and offer homage to Allah. There was no ritual sacrifice, aside from the sacrifice of reason resulting from the smoochy gesture of pietic devotion. Having kissed the Koran, I am sure there was a lot of Bible-kissing later on. Evidently, when everyone knows your apology is insincere, you have to ramp up the theatrics. Does this mean Bush is going to kiss the Constitution? | +Save/Share | | |
