Not In My Lifetime

Tonight is a time for celebration, a time to applaud the Democratic Party for it's courage and diversity, and a night to tell the world that America is still the land of opportunity, and the home of the free.

It is also a time for women to weep. A time of hopes dashed, a time when our own country has told us that our dreams will remain unrealized.

Not in my lifetime will a woman hold the highest office in the nation. Not in my lifetime will we see another candidate like Hillary Clinton. We will only be able to tell our sons that any boy can be the President, but to our daughters, we will have to say that our country is not ready for you.

It is a time of hope, and a time of sadness.
