Flag pin patriotism

Sen. James Inhofe is dong his bit by the cultural war by claiming Obama isn't Patriotically Correct. In the rhetoric of today's authoritarian Republican Party, it seems that "patriotism" means "supports the Republican Party", and not anything else.

Inhofe says patriotism question will sink Obama by Jim Myers Tulsa World 09/06/2008.

Regardless of what polls show, Inhofe said, voters will have to ask themselves a question once they get behind the curtain in the voting booth on Election Day.

"Do you really want to have a guy as commander in chief of this country when you can question whether or not he really loves his country?" he asked.

"That's the big question."
But let's face it. Inhofe is truly appealing to the brain-dead with this:

After he was asked for an explanation on why voters should question Obama's love for his country, Inhofe issued a written statement on Friday to clarify his earlier comments.

"Let me be clear," he said.

"I am not questioning Sen. Obama's patriotism, but you have to question why at times he seems so obviously opposed to public displays of patriotism and national pride, like wearing an American flag lapel pin."
Check the videos. Barack Obama wore a flag pin during his Convention acceptance speech. The Great American McCain did not wear one during his.

Or is it the Party line today to say that wearing a flag pin is unpatriotic and not wearing one is patriotic? It gets so confusing keeping up with these fast-changing standards of Patriotic Correctness.

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
