What He Said, Man, AmenI think you've got "kumbayah" spelled just right there, Tankwoman, although Wikipedia says there's an alternative spelling, "Kum Ba Yah." In any case, we're all clearly tired of those people across the aisle and their nasty ways. After I wrote my Friday The Thirteenth post this morning, I read William Rivers Pitt's column on truthout.org, titled "Dump The GOP." He prefaces the column with this quote from Mark Twain: "Reader, suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."He goes on from there to excoriate Judd Gregg and the entire pack of Congressional Republicans. He most usefully quotes Rep Louise Slaughter's (D-NY) recounting of the stimulus package process, via her diary on DailyKos.com, and even more wonderfully supplies us with a list of a few of the items in the stimulus package that left the GOP so greatly offended. This list should be published on the front page of every single hometown newspaper in this country. The first five items in the list have, in one way or the other, to do with energy and climate change, giving me even more fuel for my fears that the fight to change our policies in these areas will be long, hard, bitter and ugly. It is indeed time to stop singing Kumbayah and start with another song from my early activist youth, We Shall Overcome.
