Obama's own preview of Tuesday's SOTU

Like most prepared Obama speeches, it's high-minded with grand rhetoric. But painfully short of programmatic guidelines. And does virtually nothing to advance a distinctively Democratic framing of the issues of the days.

It doesn't mention cutting Social Security. But there's not defense of Social Security, either.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
