Bike4Peace

Yesterday I put in a word about the September mobilization for peace in Washington. Today I'm going to advertise the bike ride across the country, Bike for Peace. This is the deal: They are going from

Everett, WA to Washington, D.C. Join us in a peaceful protest against the War and occupation of Iraq and U.S. policies concerning oil resources, global domination and of course, terrorism. We hope to gather cyclists from across the country to converge on D.C. September 22 for a critical mass demonstration, joining other activists that week.
Their itinerary is on the site, according to it they should be into the Dakotas tomorrow and resting today. There is also a blog, where they seem to be a little confused about dates, which would be easy to understand. On this kind of trip, especially the endless open country they've been riding through recently, losing track of time would all too easy to do. From Jeff's entry, dated today, but it has to have been yesterday:

Fast forward through the day and I am riding towards Gillette, about 30 milles out, and it is starting to get dark. I hadn't realized that at dusk is when all the animals come out. I saw big herds of deer, skunks, rabbits and assorted other things that go bump in the night. To the east the almost full moon is starting to rise so I stop to watch it. For 20 minutes I sit there just soaking up the ambience. Here in the high desert the silence is almost deafening, the stars are brighter and more abundant, and it is quite easy to become one with nature. Across the road from me, a big buck comes up to the road, sees me and then stops. He backs up a little, melding into the darkness. I thought that he had left when I heard him snort loudly. This got me to thinking, was I in his way? between him and his doe? A couple of moments later he snorted again, louder this time and I decided that it was time for me to be moving on.

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
