Living More Lightly?

Still August, isn't it? The tomatoes, cucumbers, cantalopes, peppers, and sweet corn are the good part of August. Along with the lilies, phlox, rudbeckia, crape myrtle and cicadas. Okay, August isn't all that bad. Anyway, here's my second environmental quiz for the dog days of August. This one gives you a profile of how lightly you are living on the earth, and is quite a bit different from the Footprint quiz in my previous post. This one gives only your personal score, nothing to compare it with. From the quiz site:

Naturally, all the numbers we use are arbitrary, but they may give you a basis for comparing yourself with others. Ask your friends or colleagues to score themselves, then talk about your respective profiles. Of course, in this case you may want to figure your score differently for different comparisons. For example, if you would like to compare your daily impact with someone who has produced less offspring, then just match their points in that category and compute your score again.

Here is the quiz itself: Living More Lightly Profile. Again, I'm about to share my results with you, and since I have nothing to compare them with, I'd love to have you share yours with me. I got a surcharge for something I felt obliged to include, even though I am not personally responsible for it - The "Reproduction Surcharge" for two kids. I had no biological part in these two kids' presence on the planet, but my partner did and I helped raise them. I'm pretty sure their father will never take this quiz, just as he never took any part in their lives. Please leave scores and remarks in the comments section if you have time. I will be entirely grateful.

My results:
  • Environmental Habits & Participation Impact Points 42
  • Standard Additions 95
  • Reproduction Surcharge (400 / 2) 200
  • Standard Subtractions - 90
  • Your "Living Lightly" Score 247
  • We know this final score doesn't mean much (you would probably be a fanatic living alone somewhere in a cave if you ended up with a perfect score for living lightly, i.e., with no points at all), but we thought the profile might give you some ideas for how you could improve upon your own lifestyle.
