Jennings Dies at 67
'World News Tonight' Anchor Since 1983

Aug. 7 -- ABC News Anchor Peter Jennings died today at his home in New York City. He was 67. On April 5, Jennings announced he had been diagnosed with lung cancer.

With the retirement of Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather as new anchors, the passing of Peter Jennings marks the end of an era in television news. He died a scant four months after announcing on the air that he was battling with the disease.

Meanwhile, Captain Ed at Captain's Quarters took the opportunity to scold ASH, an anti-smoking group for "having no brains and no soul", "using Jennings' death to tell people that it predicted the likelihood of his death when Jennings first disclosed his illness".

Michelle Malkin promptly picks up the lead, calling it "the first Jennings-related exploitative press release e-mailed from the left-wing group".

Ironic these two don't see their moralizing and left-bashing as being just as exploitive. Give it a rest, guys.
