Forced EvacuationsI'm not so sure that we should debate the legality of forced evacuations right now. If people are walking around in a cesspool of toxins, maybe the best thing to do right now is to get them out of there, and worry about lawsuits later. There are all sorts of really nasty cooties floating around NOLA today, and if we don't get these people out of there, they will surely die.E coli is a nasty little bacteria that can cause death in children and elderly folks when it is ingested in small amounts. When the EPA reports that the little E coli are swimming around in the flood waters at 10 times the safe rate, it is probably enough to kill healthy adults. The lead level in the flood waters exceeds by 10 times the safety level recommended by the EPA, and these are the same guys that never issued warnings to New Yorkers about the toxins in Manhattan after 9/11. There are oil slicks surrounding the city, and god knows whatever chemicals they use for refining oil can't be very safe for humans. Let's not worry about the legal issues. Get these people out. | +Save/Share | | |
