Another Whack Job in the MixWhat the world needs now like a fish needs a bicycle, is another nutcase leader in the Middle East. Nutjob of the month award goes to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (if you can say that three times in a row without spittle flying out of your mouth, you win a dozen pumpkin cupcakes) the newly elected President of Iran. I'm trying to think of any circumstances where it might be appropriate to say that a certain nation should be "wiped off the face of the earth", and ya know, I'm coming up blank. What's incredibly stupid, is that the President of Iran is saying just this very thing about Israel. Okay, I'm not the President of anything, but if I were trying to acquire nuclear energy, and trying to convince the rest of the world that it was for peaceful purposes, I might refrain from speaking the words "wipe off", and "the face of the earth" in the same sentence. Israel has made some strides toward peace lately, (not nearly enough) and peace doesn't come from harsh words, it comes from compromise. Our own President has made his own stupid comments. We are in the middle of a stupid brutal war. There may come a time when we actually need something like regime change, if the nutcase in Iran turns out to actually be serious about his words. But how will we help Israel if we are bogged down in Iraq? What troops will we send to protect any of our allies if some nutjob has a bad day, and attacks another country. If we go to the United Nations and ask for help, who will believe us? The arrogance and stupidity of getting mired in an unnecessary war will cost many lives if there truly comes a time when we need military force. If the shit really hits the fan, the world will view us with skepticism, and rightly so. And why should the President of Iran fear the American military? He has already seen first hand the threat of American might. And maybe that was our biggest mistake. | +Save/Share | | |
