A Reason to Celebrate

I always find a reason to stay up too late. Usually I've had too many lattes, or I'm catching up on news and e-mail I've missed. Tonight, I couldn't find my Macy Gray CD, so I had to download a couple of songs I just couldn' t live without until morning. For the most part, the late night news is nothing worth losing sleep over, but I'd stay up to hear Macy any night of the week.

While I was waiting for Macy to download, I looked around for odd bits of news. I found this welcome piece of evidence that there is yet a reason to hope that America is on the path to reason and rationality. It seems that the House has dropped the proposal to drill in Alaska, and also struck the proposals for offshore drilling on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. I'm like... stunned. I was ready to kiss all those antelope goodbye for eternity, I thought that after we lost in the Senate, it was a done deal.

Now it's one in the morning, and I'm sure my friend Marigold's is sleeping as any reasonable person should be. I am resisting the temptation to wake her up, and sneak downstairs to get the bottle of Lemocello out of the freezer. But if anyone should be proud, it's our own Green Goddess Marigolds who kept the faith and the good fight going. I hope she wakes up to a great big bowl of Frosty Flakes, or hey, live a little, even a glazed donut! As for me, I'm going to leave the bottle in the freezer a bit longer, I'd really like to save it for the end of the war, and besides, it will ruin my caffeine buzz.

Miracles Happen.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
